The number of grey seals dropped to 500 in the early 1900s but today, there are an estimated 120,000 grey seals in Britain. That’s almost half of the world’s population! To see them, your best bet would be to head to the rocky northern and western coasts.
The seals breed in the winter months and their pups stay on land for two to three weeks until they have doubled in weight. They gain about 2kg every day from their mother’s fatty milk, which helps form the fatty layer beneath the skin that keeps them warm when they go out to sea to fish.
The Christmas card is as eco friendly as possible; it is made using recycled board and packaged with a recycled envelope. We can send the card naked or in a compostable sleeve - the choice is yours.
