The original, signed, A3 western lowland gorilla portrait pen drawing, ready to be framed and hung in the perfect spot in your home.
Gorillas are some of the most endangered mammal species in the world. This silverback is a western lowland gorilla; both species of gorilla (eastern and western) are Critically Endangered thanks to poaching, disease and habitat loss. Efforts are underway to conserve these fun, clever, sentient species, but how do you go about conserving an animal with restricted, isolated habitat remaining?
It would be unrealistic to assume that their habitats could be significantly extended through habitat restoration. The mountain gorilla’s story has, however, been a positive one. Efforts to protect this species through ecotourism and disease control have been successful. Not only has the decline been stabilised, but the population is actually on the rise – a first for any great ape species in the modern day.
This listing is for the original drawing only; it does not include a mount or frame. If you would like it framed, please drop me an email and I can arrange this for an additional cost.
