The Mastermind

The original, signed, A3 Siberian tiger pen drawing, ready to be framed and hung in the perfect spot in your home.

  • Conservation story

The stunning Siberian, or Amur, tiger is the world’s biggest wild cat. Having dropped to fewer than 30 animals in the 1930s, the subspecies has made a remarkable recovery and it is now estimated that there are around 500 individuals in the wild.

As their habitat continues to decline, tigers are increasingly coming into conflict with humans. Poaching (as a result of habitat loss and fragmentation) is one of the tiger’s biggest threats. The animals are also killed for their skins, which are prized as status symbols, and bones, which are used in some traditional Chinese medicines.

Conservation strategies are multi-pronged and include conserving tiger habitat as well as reducing human-tiger conflict, illegal poaching and trafficking. With projects under each of these headings, WWF aims to increase the number of wild tigers to 6,000 by 2022.
