The original, signed, A3 grey crowned crane pen drawing, ready to be framed and hung in the perfect spot in your home.
The stunning African (or grey) crowned crane is a tall, elegant bird with a spectacular yellow crown. Degradation of its native wetland habitat is threatening the species. Cranes and their eggs are also often taken and sold on the black market because the birds are considered a symbol of wealth. I guess the characteristic honk echoing from their gardens serves as a regular reminder to the owners that they have too much money.
To ensure the future of these ancient creatures, conservation organisations are monitoring the trade routes for cranes and working to change how they are viewed by residents to reduce demand. Community-based projects are underway in numerous African countries to train local people in wetland management and instil a sense of pride around their unique species.
This listing is for the original drawing only; it does not include a mount or frame. If you would like it framed, please drop me an email and I can arrange this for an additional cost.
