The original, signed, A3 giraffe pen drawing, ready to be framed and hung in the perfect spot in your home.
Results of a study in 2016 showed that there are four species of giraffe, each found in a different part of Africa and with slightly different patterning and colouration. Male northern giraffes have a third ossicone (horn-like nub) on their heads, which is thought to have evolved for protection during fights.
Giraffes are threatened by poaching (as well as for meat and hides, they are poached for their tails, which are thought to bring good luck) and habitat loss. Some organisations are working to reforest areas of Africa with acacia trees, which giraffes clearly love - they can be found munching on the leaves for up to 20 hours a day! Conservationists are also working with local communities to develop sustainable agricultural practices and reduce the destruction of critical giraffe habitat.
This listing is for the original drawing only; it does not include a mount or frame. If you would like it framed, please drop me an email and I can arrange this for an additional cost.
