The original, signed, A3 Asian elephant pen drawing, ready to be framed and hung in the perfect spot in your home.
The greatest threats to the endangered Asian elephant are all caused by human overpopulation. As they continue to be encroached upon by humans and our man-made infrastructures, their habitats have become lost, degraded and fragmented. This has also resulted in more human-elephant conflict and the genetic threats that come with having small populations. Though a greater threat for African elephants, Asian elephants are still poached for the illegal ivory trade (and for the market of other elephant parts, like skin, meat and tail hair).
Lots of resources are invested in working with communities to reduce human-elephant conflict and protecting their remaining habitat. Projects are also underway to reconnect fragmented areas of habitat with wildlife corridors - one of the most effective methods for helping isolated populations to mix and so reducing the occurrence of problems caused by a loss of genetic diversity.
This listing is for the original drawing only; it does not include a mount or frame. If you would like it framed, please drop me an email and I can arrange this for an additional cost.
